Irregular Verbs - the Missing Link!

Many students have learned and internalized incorrect verb forms in the past tense. To learn the standard forms, I find it easier when students practice using oral language with a partner.

You'll need to download the 100 most common irregular verbs in English. I grouped them by spelling pattern. You will need to teach only past tense, the past participle, and 3rd person singular in the present tense. It will look like this:

Past / Yesterday I went to the store.

Past Participle - question form / Have you
gone to the store?

3rd person singular, present tense / Every day she
goes to the store.

Practice 15 minutes a day, every day.

  • Use GLAD strategies: graphic organizers, chanting and oral practice in pairs.
  • Verb study is a highly social, individually paced, and preferred activity for my students.
